Have autism and mental health issues. Staff always treat me with respect and understanding whereas other hospitals have treated me pretty inhumanely and I have had very bad experiences of lack medical care. In a&e they always try to be accomadating to my complex needs even though it's always busy. They also have a walk in and out of hours doctor's at the same entrance as the a&e. If you go to a&e and it's the wrong place for you right then, they will always signpost you to the right place (walk in or out of hours) instead of leaving you to wait for hours in a busy a&e as a low priority. If you take this advice, you get seen quicker than if you had decided you'd rather wait in a&e. All urgent services are really good. They have mental health liaison people who aim to see you within an hour or two of attending the a&e department if you need them. This is truly exceptional as in my experience, I've had to wait up to 72 hours in other hospitals to see a similar service or been blankly told I wasn't allowed to see them.
I have nothing but praise for this hospital. I have been in twice this year, once in kidney ward and one in heart ward and was treated wonderfully well both times. The staff are lovely, from cleaners to Consultants. My kidney Specialist Dr Jason Moore is an amazing man. He has pushed and pushed for a diagnosis and I've finally got one. The man is a saint and I will be forever grateful to him.
Came to A&E walk-in with broken leg around noon. Waiting time displayed 1.5 hours, was seen in 1 hour. Was heading to X-ray 10 minutes after being seen. Leg plastered after doctor checked results. Out the door on crutches, leg in plaster, by 3pm. Three hours after arrival. Outstanding.Came back for surgery following week. Came in 7.30am, in operating theatre by 9.30am. Seen by doctor immediately after regaining consciousness, no wait. Seen by physio about 30 minutes after that. Doctor came back after about another half an hour with a pile of painkillers and discharged by 2pm. Total time: 6 hours 30 mins.This is without a doubt, the best hospital I have ever been treated at. It is BRILLIANTLY EFFICIENT.The staff are wonderfully friendly, with about 90% of them native British, and the remainder speaking perfectly fluent English. They are all extremely competent Doctors, Nurses, HCAs, etc... Very, very highly recommended hospital.
I was told that I did not have thoracic outlet syndrome. I did and I had both vascular and neurogenic (treated expeditiously at another hospital). I am now recovering from surgery. I am not amused at my treatment within the vascular department- it has been rebuttals all the way with me struggling to be taken seriously with what became, in the end, a serious condition.
I have had on going health issues for many years and have had to pay many visits to many departments. This Hospital has got to be the best in the country, you never have to wait long, all the staff from consultant's to receptionist's are so friendly, they all make you feel so relaxed and you can have quite a laugh with them, but at the same time very professional and very thorough. If I could I would give 10 stars, they all deserve it, and more. Thank you RD&E
