Nice pub but had no Guinness
We had come to Exeter for the evening by train after a day in Exmouth. We couldn't believe how difficult it was to find a decent little cosy friendly pub to have a couple of drinks before we went for a meal. Surprise.....there are not many in the centre of the city. Eventually we came across the Angel. It sold good beer, had a good friendly atmosphere with not too many students around! And it sold beer instead of wall to wall lagers. Bar staff were good and even though we bought and hated the honeyed chilli nuts the landlady gave us some alternative peanuts for free! We sat on a sofa next to a log fire and had a super time.
Decent beers and drinks selection. Went in the daytime in winter, had a nice heat from the log burner and a good atmosphere.
A nice pub, good ale & helpful staff- it was busy but everything seemed to work well!
Great pub with great staff. Like a proper pub it serves drinks not food. Great music if you like old school hip hop and reggae. It gets a real mix of people, regulars, people waiting for trains, etc. Doesn't have telly and doesn't permit people wearing football shirts, so avoids all that sort of thing. The toilets are truly dire. Reminds me of a student union disco! Love it!
